The Approach
#March4Women 2020 brought together over 6,000 people to celebrate International Women’s Day. The 2020 event focused on women on the frontline of climate change and partnered with leading organisations including the Mayor of London, Friends of the Earth, DEC, UN Women UK and Project Everyone.
The Bulb was responsible for programming the content and leading the production and delivery of the awareness campaign.
The Impact
- The event generated 1,032 pieces of press coverage, including by the Evening Standard, The Guardian, Grazia and The Mail on Sunday alongside broadcast highlights on Good Morning Britain, Sky Sunrise and BBC.
- 123% increase in social media engagement and a total 3.8m impressions across social media channels.
- The event started at the Southbank Centre with an opening rally, followed by a march through Central London and closing with a finale in Parliament Square.
- Thousands of activists enjoyed speeches from the Mayor of London, Helen Pankhurst, Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones), George MacKay (1917), Sandi Toksvig, Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Bianca Jagger, Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls) and poet Nikita Gill as well as performances from Emeli Sande, Ricky Wilson, RAYE and Lapsley.
