Selina Donald Participates in Host City Sustainability Panel, 'Sustainability Strategies: Making Events the Solution, not the Problem.'

“Every job should be a sustainability job.” Wise words from our Director of Sustainability, Selina Donald, who participated in Glasgow 2024 Host City panel, ‘Sustainability Strategies: Making Events the Solution, not the Problem’.

“The sustainability panel urged the industry to view events as a platform for environmental good rather than just mitigation. Jimena Saldana de Aja, CEO of Panam Sports, emphasised the dual role of events to entertain and educate.

“Selina Donald, Director of Sustainability at Trivandi, highlighted the challenges posed by tight deadlines, which often prevent innovation, and stressed that “every job should be a sustainability job.” She advocated for early planning, collaboration, and embedding sustainability into procurement processes, where it now constitutes 15-20% of supplier criteria.

“Venues also play a critical role, noted Billy McFayden, MD of Scottish Event Campus (SEC), who urged organisers to lean on venues for sustainability guidance. He noted that venues, which operate with sustainability “in their DNA,” can provide expertise to drive progress.” Credit: https://www.hostcity.com/
